Boise State Opens Fall Schedule at Cougar Classic
Six Broncos head north to Pullman, Wash., for first tournament.

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State women's tennis team opens its 2012 fall schedule this weekend, Sept. 14-16, at the Cougar Classic in Pullman, Wash., on the Washington State University Outdoor Courts.  Boise State will be competing against 10 other teams including; Washington State, Gonzaga, Portland, Eastern Washington, Montana, Montana State, Seattle, Lewis-Clark State, Lewis and Clark, and Idaho. This is the first of four tournaments for the Broncos this fall.

Like most fall tournaments, this competition is an individual and doubles based competition where no one competes as a team but rather as single players and doubles teams. The competition begins on Friday and goes through to the draw (flight) finals Sunday morning.

Representing Boise State at the Cougar Classic are returning letterwinners Marlena Pietzuch, Morgan Basil and Fiona Mok, as well as newcomers Sammie Watson, Megan LaLone and Bobbi Oshiro. Pietzuch is a returning All-Mountain West honoree in doubles, while the three newcomers are part of Boise State's 35th nationally ranked recruiting class.

In the singles competition Basil, Pietzuch and Watson will be competing for Boise State in "Flight One" beginning at 12:15 p.m. (MT), while Megan LaLone and Bobbi Oshiro will play in "Flight 2" which starts tentatively at 1:30 p.m. (MT). Fiona Mok will represent the Broncos in "Flight 3" with her first match schedule to start around 4:30 p.m. (MT).

Broncos competing in the "Flight One" doubles competition will be the teams of Morgan Basil and Megan LaLone, as well as Marlena Pietzuch and Sammie Watson. Bobbi Oshiro and Fiona Mok will compete in "Flight Two" for doubles teams.
