Bronco Women's Tennis Adds Two to 2008-09 Roster

BOISE, Idaho Boise State’s women’s tennis team, led by head coach Mark Tichenor, is pleased to announce the signing of Vivien Silvany and Rocio Frej to the 2008-09 women’s tennis roster. The pair of newcomers will join a group of six athletes who will return from the 2007-08 roster.

The 2008-09 roster looks to be full of diversity, with seven of the eight women attending Boise State from foreign countries. The two newly signed women add to the foreign student-athlete group with Silvany hailing from Palambang, Indonesia and Frej coming from Zaragoza, Spain.

Silvany will bring a high level of play and talent to the squad immediately. Currently she is ranked 886 in the Women’s Tennis Association World Singles rankings and holds the No. 697 ranking in the doubles category. Proving she is full of talent and potential, Silvany was ranked as high as No. 309 in the doubles rankings earlier this season.

“Vivien is a tremendous all around player as evident by her world rankings,” stated Tichenor. “We know she will make an immediate impact on the top part of our singles and doubles line ups.

Frej joins the Bronco squad as a toped ranked Spanish junior, having been ranked as high as the top-75 in the Spanish women’s open rankings. Being a lefty, Frej will add a new spin to the line up and prove to be a challenger in the Broncos’ line up immediately.

“We expect great things from her and expect her to immediately challenge for a spot in the line up,” said Tichenor. “We have been trying for the last few years to get a player from Spain and we are very happy to have Rocio join our program.”

The 2008-09 roster will consist of three seniors, two juniors, one sophomore and two freshman with the addition of Silvany and Frej.
