Bronco Women to Meet Iowa at NCAA Regionals

BOISE, Idaho - The No. 47 ranked Boise State women's tennis team learned on Tuesday (May 4) that it will be heading to South Bend, Ind. for the first round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament for a date with No. 21 Iowa on May 14 (Friday). Start time for the dual is still to be determined. The Broncos (22-5) were one of 31 automatic qualifiers to this year's tournament after capturing the first Western Athletic Conference title in program history.

Boise State will meet the Hawkeyes (17-6) for the chance to face the winner of No. 5 Notre Dame and IPFW (Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne) on May 15 (Saturday). The 64-team NCAA tournament field is broken in 16 regions. The winners of each region will earn a trip to Athens, Ga. for the last four rounds of the national championships.

The Bronco women are coming off one of the most accomplished seasons in program history, which culminated by winning both the WAC regular season and tournament titles. They are led by senior Pichittra Thongdach who was voted WAC Player of the Year. She was joined by head coach Mark Tichenor with top conference honors as he was named WAC Coach of the Year.
