FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 43 ranked Boise State women's tennis team has secured a spot in the 2010 Western Athletic Conference tournament championship with a 4-0 win over No. 4 seed Hawai'i, Saturday (May 1) afternoon, in Fresno, Calif.

The No. 1 seed Broncos (21-5) earned a sweep over the Rainbow Wahine by winning the doubles point before taking the first three singles matches of the dual. Elyse Edwards and Bianca Jochimsen scored the first Boise State win of the day by beating Algae Van den Bergh and Natasha Zorec, 8-3, at No. 3 doubles. The Broncos would secure the doubles point next at No. 2 as Marlena Pietzuch and Stephanie Jasper beat Barbara Pinterova and Alyssa Nafarrete, 8-5.

With a spot in Sunday's title match on the line Boise State rolled in singles with three straight-set wins to end the dual. Jochimsen scored the first singles win for the Broncos with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Katarina Poljakova at No. 3. Pietzuch put the Boise State win within reach in the No. 6 singles match with a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Nafarrete.

WAC Women's Player of the Year, Pichittra Thongdach, would put the finishing touches on the dual for the Broncos at No. 1, as she beat Sophie Kobuch, 7-5, 6-2. With Thongdach's win, Boise State pushed the team score to 4-0, putting the win out of reach for Hawai'i.
