Four Broncos Honored by WAC; Roghaar Named Coach of the Year

BOISE, Idaho - The Western Athletic Conference announced its 2011 women's tennis honors and awards, Thursday (April 28) night, which featured four Boise State players receiving All-WAC nominations and head coach Beck Roghaar being voted the conference Coach of the Year.

Roghaar earned the WAC coaching honor after leading Boise State to a 16-7 overall record and a 5-1 record against conference opponents this spring. His 16 total wins broke the Bronco women's tennis program record for most wins by a first-year head coach. He passed Jim Moortgat (15-11; 1995-96) and Mike Eddles (15-9; 1992-93) in earning the distinction.

Boise State's success on the court this season also earned the Broncos All-WAC selections for Lauren Megale, Sonia Klamczynska, Marlena Pietzuch and Elyse Edwards. Megale led the way for Boise State as she was voted first team All-WAC in both singles and doubles for the third consecutive year. She teamed up with Pietzuch to earn first team all-conference honors in doubles this spring.

Megale was joined by Klamczynska in receiving first team All-WAC singles honors. Klamczynska also teamed up with Edwards to earn second team all-conference doubles recognition.

The Broncos opened up the 2011 WAC tournament hosted by Boise State University, Thursday (April 28) afternoon, with a 4-0 win over San Jose State to advance past the quarterfinal round. Boise State is now set to meet New Mexico State at noon on Friday (April 29) for a spot in Saturday's championship match.
