Dokic Ranked Nationally
April 4, 2017

TEMPE, Ariz. - Boise State freshman Anja Dokic broke into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Rankings Tuesday, debuting at No. 83 in the women's singles computer standings. Dokic is the first Bronco to be nationally ranked since 2013.

Dokic is 11-3 on the season in singles play, including a 1-1 mark against nationally-ranked competition. She upset then-No. 27 Carol Yang of UNLV March 25. Tuesday's release is the first national singles rankings published since Dokic's marquee victory. Yang is now No. 39, still the highest of the Mountain West's four ranked singles players.

Former Bronco and current volunteer assistant coach Sandy Vo carried a No. 98 singles ranking into the start of the 2013 spring season. Prior to Vo, the last Bronco to be nationally ranked in singles was Pichittra Thongdach, who was ranked No. 47 at the end of the 2010 season. Dokic's position at No. 83 is the highest for a Bronco since Thongdach ended the 2010 season and her collegiate career at No. 47.

Dokic and the Broncos (11-6) hit the road for their next two divisional matches, playing at Air Force (Friday, 12:30 p.m. MT) and New Mexico (Sunday, 11 a.m. MT).

About ITA Rankings
Every other week during the spring, the ITA releases rankings for the top 125 singles players and top 90 doubles pairings, based on the ITA computer ranking system. For each victory, a player receives a prescribed number of points based upon the national ranking of the opponent defeated. A ranking is figured by the individual receiving points for each countable victory in ITA-sanctioned tournaments and dual matches to date. The sum of all the countable wins for the ranking period is the player’s ranking point total for that period. The total ranking points is divided by the number of countable wins added to the points from losses. The computer calculated average = Sum of points from ‘x’ best wins for that rankings period divided by [the ‘x’ best countable wins for that ranking period + Points from all losses].
