Boise State Beats Bobcats for Saturday Sweep

BOISE, Idaho - The No. 67 ranked Boise State women's tennis team completed a sweep of its weekend double header, Saturday (April 2) afternoon, as the Broncos knocked off Montana State, 6-0, at the BOAS Indoor Tennis Complex to improve to 13-6 overall this season.

Boise State (3-0 Western Athletic Conference), which opened the day with a 5-0 win over San Jose State Saturday morning, earned its third straight victory thanks to dominating singles play against the Bobcats (6-8). The Broncos did not play doubles against Montana State due to time constraints.

In singles, Boise State earned six straight set wins without losing more than three games in any match. The Broncos scored two wins by shutout, while emerging victorious in six total sets by a score of 6-0.

Lauren Megale got things going for Boise State with the first point of the day as she beat Charlotta Hjalmarsso, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 1 to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead in the dual. Sonia Klamczynska would follow suit with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Wena Tsan at No. 2 to put Boise State half way to the team victory.

Stephanie Jasper managed to move the Broncos within a point of the dual win next at No. 3 as she topped Paulina Lopez Trevino, 6-2, 6-1.

Elyse Edwards would capitalize on Boise State's momentum with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Andrea De La Torre at No. 4 to give the Broncos the decisive 4-0 lead in the dual.

Boise State was not done scoring however, as Marlena Pietzuch and Sandy Vo would each earn wins to clinch the 6-0 sweep in the dual. Pietzuch scored first with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Ellie Crum at No. 5. Vo finished off the dual with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Lucy Fairbotham at No. 6.

The Broncos, who have just one regular season home dual remaining, improve to 5-2 at home with the two wins on Saturday. Boise State hits the road next week for a pair of WAC duals in Reno, Nev. The Broncos will face New Mexico State at 10 a.m. (PST), Saturday (April 9), before meeting Nevada at 11 a.m. (PST) on Sunday (April 10).

Boise State will conclude its regular season schedule by playing host to Hawai'i at noon on April 24 (Sunday).
