BOISE, Idaho - The No. 45 Boise State women's tennis team will get its first look at Western Athletic Conference competition this weekend as the Broncos travel to Reno, Nev. to face New Mexico State and No. 65 Nevada on Saturday (April 3).

Boise State will meet New Mexico State at 9 a.m. (PST) Saturday morning to kick-off the Broncos' 2010 WAC schedule. The women will then turn around and face No. 65 Nevada at 2:30 p.m. (PST) Saturday evening.

Last time out...

Boise State enjoyed another successful weekend as the Broncos played to a 2-1 record to open up an eight dual stretch away from home. It wasn't all smiles for the Broncos, however, as they did see their nine dual win streak snapped on Sunday (March 28) with a 4-3 loss at No. 59 UNLV. The women opened their weekend with a 7-0 win at Oregon and a 6-1 win against UC Irvine before meeting the Lady Rebels.

Against UNLV the Broncos fell behind early after losing the doubles point with losses at No. 2 and No. 3. Sunday marked the first time Boise State had lost the doubles point since Feb. 20 when the Broncos fell to Marshall, 5-2. The 1-0 deficit proved to be too much to overcome, as the Broncos were only able to split the singles matches for a 4-3 final.

National rankings...

Despite finishing the weekend on a losing note, Boise State moved up two spots in the March 30 ITA national team rankings. The Broncos climbed to No. 45 this week after improving to 12-5 on the season. Boise State spent the entire month of March ranked in the top-50 after falling to No. 57 at the end of February.

The Broncos continue to be led by senior Pichittra Thongdach, who moved up 10 spots to No. 38 in this week's ITA singles rankings. Thongdach also continues to hold a top-40 spot in the national doubles rankings with teammate Lauren Megale. The Boise State duo enters this weekend ranked No. 38 in doubles.

New Mexico State also opens its 2010 WAC schedule this weekend as the Aggies will face Louisiana Tech, Nevada and Boise State. The Aggies enter conference play with a 7-9 record so far this season. NMSU has played three common opponents to Boise State, all of which resulted in losses. The Aggies fell to UNLV, 7-0, San Diego, 5-2, and UC Irvine, 5-2.

Looking at the Wolf Pack...

Nevada enters this weekend looking to keep its' spot on top of the WAC standings as the Wolf Pack also face a weekend triple header. Nevada enters this weekend with a 6-5 overall record, and a 2-0 record in WAC competition. The Wolf Pack will look to ride some momentum coming off a big 5-2 win over No. 41 Marshall last Thursday.
