WAC Honors Megale as Verizon Wireless Women's Tennis Player of the Week

BOISE, Idaho - On Tuesday (March 30) Boise State's Lauren Megale was honored by the Western Athletic Conference as she was named the Verizon Wireless Women's Tennis Player of the Week for March 22-28. This marks Megale's first POW honor this season and the third of her career.

Megale, a junior from Boise, Idaho, helped lead the Broncos to a 2-1 record last week with a 3-0 record at No. 2 singles and a 3-0 mark at No. 1 doubles. Boise State earned wins over Oregon and UC Irvine before dropping a 4-3 match at No. 59 UNLV. Despite falling to the Lady Rebels, Megale did her part with an upset win over No. 103 Jana Albers, 6-0, 2-6, 6-1. In doubles, Megale and partner Pichittra Thongdach won all three matches.

Boise State is off the courts until this weekend when the Broncos open their WAC schedule on Saturday (April 3) in Reno, Nev. The women will face New Mexico State in a morning dual before taking on Nevada Saturday evening.
