Dokic Earns MW Award
March 29, 2017

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State freshman Anja Dokic was named Mountain West Player of the Week for women's tennis, the league announced Wednesday. Dokic was unbeaten last week, going 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles, highlighted by a win over 27th-ranked Carol Yang of UNLV.

The Perth, Australia, native became the first Bronco to knock off a nationally-ranked singles opponent since 2011. Playing the top singles spot, Dokic defeated Yang 6-1, 0-6, 6-4 on UNLV's home court. She also earned a win at No. 2 singles Friday, against Southern Utah.

Dokic is 10-2 in singles this season, including a 2-0 mark at the No. 1 position. She has won her last four matches and 10 of her last 11.

Dokic is the fourth Bronco to claim the weekly conference award since Boise State joined the Mountain West. Teammate Hanna Kantenwein picked up a player of the week award last season, while current volunteer assistant coach Sandy Vo was a recipient of the honor in 2013. Marlena Pietzuch earned one weekly award in 2012.

The Broncos host two conference matches this weekend, taking on Colorado State Friday, at noon MT and Wyoming Sunday, at 11 a.m. MT. Both matches will be played at the Appleton Outdoor Tennis Center, weather permitting.
