Broncos Rout Toreros 6-1 in Eleventh Straight Win

SAN DIEGO The No. 38-ranked Boise State women’s tennis team earned their 11th straight win on Thursday, defeating the No. 51-ranked University of San Diego, 6-1, in their final match of their spring break week in California. The Broncos snagged wins in all doubles matches and all but the No. 4 singles match to improve to 17-2 on the season while the Toreros fall to 9-5.


Boise State swept the doubles point with senior Klaudia Wlodarczyk and freshman Vivien Silfany leading the way with an 8-2 win over Juliette Coupez and Samantha Mouly in the No. 2 spot. Junior Pichittra Thongdach and freshman Lauren Megale were the next Broncos to pick up a win, defeating Tammy Kevey and Maja Sujica, 8-2 in the No. 1 doubles match. Junior Bianca Jochimsen and senior Laura Baum closed out the Broncos’ doubles sweep with an 8-6 win over Marite Raygada and Perl in the No. 3 doubles match.


Singles play went well for the Broncos as well, winning five of the six matches. Wlodarczyk was again the first to pick up a win, defeating Raygada, 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 5 match. Silfany followed suite with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Sujica in the No. 3 match while Megale helped the Broncos clinch the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Mouly in the No. 2 match. Thongdach battled to a 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 win over Coupez in the No. 1 match while Baum earned Boise State’s final point with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 win over Alexandra Demidova in the No. 6 match.


Kevey was the only Torero to earn a win on Thursday, defeating Jochimsen, 7-6 (2), 6-2 in the No. 4 singles match.


The Broncos end a seven week road schedule with the match at San Diego and prepare to host Louisiana Tech, Hawaii and Idaho next weekend with three duals in two days. The matches will be held April 3 and 4 at the Boise State Appleton Tennis Complex.
