Bronco Women to Complete Tour of California with Dual against San Diego

WHAT’S HAPPENING:

The No. 38-ranked Boise State women’s tennis team will make their final stop of spring break week in San Diego, Calif., where they will take on No. 51-ranked University of San Diego in a 1:30 p.m. (Pacific Time) match. The match concludes a seven-week road schedule for the Broncos and will be their final match before they host Louisiana Tech, Hawaii and Idaho on April 3-4 at Boise State’s Appleton Tennis Center.

  

LAST TIME OUT:

The Broncos are coming off a three-match sweep of Northern California’s San Jose State, St. Mary’s and Pacific last weekend. They extend their overall winning streak to 10 with the three wins. Boise State defeated SJSU, 7-0, in their third conference match of the season, improving to 3-0 in Western Athletic Conference play. They defeated St. Mary’s 4-3, and finished the weekend with a 6-1 over Pacific.

 

BOISE STATE:

Boise State jumped 12 spots in this week’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association team rankings, to the No. 38 spot. Extending to a 10-match win streak, the Broncos are now 16-2 overall, 7-2 away and 5-2 against nationally ranked teams.

 

Individually, two Broncos hold national rankings. Junior Pichittra Thongdach holds the No. 83-ranked spot in singles play while freshman Lauren Megale holds the No. 118 spot. The pair, who was ranked in the previous ITA, doubles rankings, dropped out of the doubles rankings last week.

 

SAN DIEGO:

The Toreros enter the weekend as the No. 51-ranked team in the country. They boast a 10-3 record and are coming off a 5-2 loss to No. 8 USC on Tuesday. Their most recent win comes over Texas Tech, 6-1, on March 20.

 

No singles or doubles players hold national rankings for the Toreros this week.
