No. 46 Women's Tennis Heads to Southern California For Three Spring Break Matches

COMING UP:
The No. 46 Boise State women’s tennis team will head to Southern California for three matches over their spring break. The Broncos face No. 70 Cal State Northridge at 12 p.m. (MT) on March 23, then UC Santa Barbara at 2:30 p.m. (MT) on March 26, and No. 71 UC Irvine at 12 p.m. (MT) on March 28.

ABOUT BOISE STATE:
The Broncos dropped three spots to No. 46 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings this week. Formerly No. 58 in the nation, the No. 1 doubles team of Pichittra Thongdach and Polina Kokoulina fell out of the national rankings this week.

BRONCOS’ LAST TIME OUT:
The Broncos finish with a 3-0 sweep at the Shocker Classic hosted by Wichita State last weekend. Thongdach finished 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles to lead the team and pick up the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor this week. With their three wins, Boise State improved to 4-0 on neutral courts and 1-4 away. The Broncos improved to 12-4 on the season with their three wins at the Shocker Classic.

ABOUT CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE:
The Matadors enter this week’s competition with a No 70 ranking. In their last competition, CSUN fell to the University of Minnesota in a tight 4-3 match. With the loss, the Matadors fell to 7-3 on the season.

ABOUT UC SANTA BARBARA:
The Gauchos of UCSB enter their match with Boise State after most recently falling to Cal State Northrideg on March 15, 5-2. UCSB is the only team the Broncos face during their spring break week who is not ranked.

ABOUT UC IRVINE:
The Anteaters of UC Irvine enter the week’s competition as the No. 71-ranked team in the nation. UC Irvine’s most recent match ended as a win over Yale, 6-1, on March 14. They have taken this week off from competition and will continue their season on March 28th when they face the Broncos.
