BOISE, Idaho (3/7/2015) - Boise State led 2-0 but could not hold on as the Broncos lost a close one 4-3 to No. 68 Denver Saturday afternoon at the Appleton Tennis at Boise. Boise State won the doubles point with victories by Megan LaLone and Arianna Paules Aldrey, as well as from Teal Vosburgh and Milena Toseva. The Broncos final points came on two singles wins by Paules Aldrey and Sammie Watson as Boise State fell to 5-7 overall.

"Overall we played some pretty good tennis out there today, but didn't bring our best at some of the big moments in a few of the matches," said coach Beck Roghaar. "We need to change the mindset in those situations and go after it to take the match in those moments. We have to compete more consistently start to finish in our singles to keep the pressure on the other team and give ourselves the confidence we need to win. Our doubles play was outstanding again today, and we're not going to feel sorry for ourselves about this one. We're going to make the adjustments and get better."

After dropping the first doubles match on court one, Boise State earned the team point by sweeping the final two contests. Vosburgh and Toseva won 6-2 at No. 3 doubles followed by a 6-4 win on court two by LaLone and Paules Aldrey.

Watson extended the Broncos lead to 2-0 when she put away Denver's Morgan Barnhill on court six. Denver brought in the next two singles victories to tie the match at 2-2 with wins on courts two and one. Paules Aldrey put the Broncos within one (3-2) of winning the match after tallying a tough three-set victory 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 over Charlotte Derbyshire at No. 5 singles.

Unfortunately, the final two singles matches on courts three and four went to Denver as the Pioneers rallied for the win.

The Broncos will be on the road next week traveling to Seattle, Wash., where they will play Portland and Washington.
