Women's Tennis Beats Washington State to Sweep Weekend Duals

BOISE, Idaho - The No. 49 ranked Boise State women's tennis team improved to 3-0 at home, Sunday (Feb. 28) afternoon, as the Broncos took down Washington State 6-1 to complete a sweep of their weekend duals at the BOAS Indoor Tennis Center.

After topping New Mexico, 7-0, on Friday, the Broncos (6-4) provided an encore by winning all three doubles matches and five-of-six singles matches in the win over the Cougars (7-4).

With a 1-0 advantage heading into singles competition, the Broncos rolled to the victory losing only the No. 2 singles match. No. 27 Pichittra Thongdach beat Liudmila Vasilieva, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 1 to get things rolling for the Broncos. She was followed by Bianca Jochimsen at No. 3, who knocked off Ksenia Googe, 6-2, 7-5.

In the No. 4 singles match, Stephanie Jasper earned a 6-4, 6-1 win over Marina Nicholas. Elyse Edwards followed that up with a 1-6, 6-2 (10-6) win over Andjela Kankaras at No. 5. Marlena Pietzuch then finished things off for the Broncos, as she beat Jessica Gomez, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6.

Boise State is in the middle of a six dual home stretch, which will continue next Saturday (March 6) when the Broncos host the University of Utah at 11 a.m.
