Women's Tennis to Face Ranked Teams in Malibu
BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State women's tennis team (5-1) will be back in action this weekend to take on a pair of ranked teams in Malibu, Calif. The Broncos will start against No. 30 Pepperdine, Friday Feb. 24 at 2:30 p.m. (MT) before facing No. 21 Arizona State, Saturday at 1 p.m.

What Happened Last Time - The Broncos are coming off a weekend sweep of Eastern Washington and Idaho before last week's bye. Boise State took care of Eastern Washington with a 7-0 route before battling to a key 5-2 win over the Vandals. Morgan Basil, Sonia Klamczynska, Marlena Pietzuch and Sandy Vo each earned singles wins in both matches while the Broncos won five of the six doubles matches.

Best in the West - Boise State's Marlena Pietzuch was named Mountain West Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 7-14 after going a combined 4-0 last weekend to help propel Boise State to home victories over Eastern Washington (W, 7-0) and Idaho (W, 5-2), respectively. Pietzuch made her debut at the No. 1 spot against Idaho, defeating Victoria Lozano in straight sets.

Perfect Pietzuch - Marlena Pietzuch is the only remaining Boise State player to be undefeated in singles this spring season with a 6-0 record. The junior has only one blemish on her combined record of 11-1.

Double the Fun - The Broncos are 14-4 in dual doubles matches this season and have earned five of six doubles points. The 77.8 winning percentage is significantly higher than the team's 63.9 mark in singles (23-13).

Looking at Pepperdine - Pepperdine enters the weekend with only a 3-3 record, facing some stiff competition in the early going including USC, Stanford and Florida. The Waves are headed by sophomore Ale Granillo who has filled the No. 1 spot in each of the team's six dual matches and is currently ranked 95th in the nation. Pepperdine has only won two doubles points this season behind the top team of Lorraine Guillermo/Khunpak Issara

Looking at Arizona State - Arizona State enters the weekend at 5-1and is coming off a 7-0 win over Northern Arizona. The Sun Devils are led by sophomore Jacqueline Cako and Michelle Brycki. Cako is ranked seventh in the nation while Brycki is 116th.

Grub and Greet - The Boise State men's and women's tennis teams will be hosting a "Grub and Greet" event where fans and boosters will have the opportunity to have the opportunity to dine with both teams in the Stueckle Sky Center. 2012 Team - The Boise State women's tennis team is coming off a 17-8 season and a 5-1 record in the WAC. The Broncos advanced to the conference finals but fell 4-3 to Fresno State. Lone senior Sonia Klamczynska returns to lead a young Bronco team that includes one freshman and two sophomores. Manuela Pietzuch joins the Boise State roster after transferring from Virginia Commonwealth and joins her sister Marlena.

Next Home Match - The Boise State will have two weeks before they return to play in Boise. The Broncos will next face Utah, March 3 and Montana, March 4.
