Women's Tennis Hosts Boise State Invitational

What’s Happening - The Boise State University women’s tennis team will host the Boise State Invitational, Feb. 9-11, at the Boas Tennis and Soccer Complex. On Friday, Feb. 9, the Broncos will face Montana at 9:30 a.m. and Nevada at 4:30 p.m. Following a one-day hiatus, Boise State will return to action Sunday, Feb. 11, and face Wichita State at 9:30 a.m.

The Team- The No. 64 ranked Boise State University women’s tennis team is coming off a perfect 3-0 road trip in Utah. The Broncos started with Utah State in Logan, Utah and earned a 5-2 victory. The following day the Boise State squad swept Montana State-Billings, 7-0, in Salt Lake City. Saturday, the Broncos defeated Utah, 6-1.

The Players - The Broncos will send a full squad to the match which will include Tiffany Coll, Stacey Housley, Jana Mackova, Laura Baum, Polina Kokoulina, Klaudia Wlodarczyk and Bianca Jochimsen.

Coll returns as the lone senior on a young squad. During the fall she posted a team best winning percentage in the fall (77%) while compiling a 10-3 record in singles. She also posted an 8-3 record in doubles. During the road trip to Utah, Coll posted a flawless 3-0 record in doubles while playing with Jochimsen and went 2-0 in singles.

Mackova and Baum are ranked 11th in doubles in the central region after the duo combined for an 11-1 record in fall play including winning the doubles competition at the Duck Invitational. The pair picked up where they left off in the fall going 3-0 in doubles over the Feb. 1-3, weekend while playing in the number one position.

In singles play, Mackova registered a 3-0 record at Utah, while playing in the third spot in the lineup.

Playing atop the order at Utah, Kokoulina went 2-1, with both victories occurring while playing at No. 2.

Jochimsen advanced to the finals of the flight one singles a the Duck Invitational. Posted eight-straight singles wins en route to posting 12 wins during the fall. She earned a win against Montana State-Billings, Feb. 2, playing in the No. 1 position.

Junior Stacey Housley recorded three victories to extend her match-winning streak to 13. Newcomer Klaudia Wlodarczyk also posted three victories in singles to remain undefeated as a member of the Broncos.
