Women's Tennis to Start 2008 Season at No. 58 Oregon
BOISE, Idaho After a one week delay to the start of their season, the Boise State women’s tennis team will take to the courts on Wednesday, February 6 at the University of Oregon for their season opener. The Broncos will continue their first week of competition at home on Saturday with double-header duals against Eastern Washington and Utah at the Boas Tennis Center.

The No. 42 ranked Broncos will take on the No. 58 ranked Ducks in a 5 p.m. match at the Oregon Student Tennis Center. The Ducks have posted a 2-1 record thus far this season, topping San Francisco and Cal Poly while dropping one match to Utah. Wednesday, the Broncos will look to stop the Ducks’ 2-0 home streak with their first match of the season.

On Saturday, February 9 the Broncos return home to host Eastern Washington in a 9:30 a.m. dual match before hosting No. 67 Utah in a 5 p.m. dual.

The only Bronco to earn an ITA National ranking, Bianca Jochimsen (So.), will look to lead the team with her No. 81 ranking. The Broncos will also look to transfers Pichittra Thongdach (So.) and Klaudia Wlodarczyk (Jr.) who posted 11-3 and 10-5 fall records, respectively. Senior Stacey Housley will also make a big impact after posting a 12-1 singles record this fall.

Looking to be the strongest doubles team, No. 40 Polina Kokoulina and Thongdach will continue their excellent 8-3 record in the fall while Laura Baum and Jana Mackova hope to improve on their 5-2 record.

After the cancellation of duals with Montana State and Idaho last weekend due to weather the Broncos will begin their home season on Saturday. The two BSU matches on Saturday will be the first of seven home matches this season. The Broncos will also host San Diego, St. Mary’s, Portland State, and Utah while also hosting the Boise State Classic in February.
