Women's Tennis Opens 2012 Season at Home
BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State women's tennis team will kick-off the 2012 indoor season this weekend (Jan. 20-22) with a pair of home duals against Utah State and Denver to start a stretch of six-straight duals at home to begin the year.

The Broncos will host Utah State on Friday (Jan. 20) at 5 p.m. (MT) before taking on Denver, Sunday (Jan. 22) at 9 a.m. Both matches will be played at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center.

Regional Rankings...

Marlena Pietzuch is tied for 19th individually in the Mountain Region and pairs with Sonia Klamczynska for the No. 5 doubles team.

Manuela Pietzuch and Sandy Vo make up the 12th-ranked doubles team in the Mountain Region.

Looking at Utah State...

Utah State is looking to improve on its 11-8 record from the 2011 season where they were unable to capture a WAC victory, going 0-6. Boise State handed Utah State one of those six losses, defeating the Aggies 6-1 in Logan. Utah State currently does not have any players ranked nationally in singles or doubles.

Looking at Denver...

Denver finished the 2011 season with a 9-14 record overall and entered the Sun Belt Championships as the No. 7 seed. The Pioneers got hot to finish the season, defeating No. 10 UALR 4-0 before taking down the No. 2 seed, Louisiana-Monroe (4-3). The Broncos took down Denver 5-2 in the 2011 season-opener. The Pioneers return all seven members of last year's squad and add Madeleine Saari-Byström who is ranked No. 95 nationally and fourth in Mountain Region.

2012 Team...

The Boise State women's tennis team is coming off a 17-8 season and a 5-1 record in the WAC. The Broncos advanced to the conference finals but fell 4-3 to Fresno State. Lone senior Sonia Klamczynska returns to lead a young Bronco team that includes one freshman and two sophomores. Manuela Pietzuch joins the Boise State roster after transferring from Virginia Commonwealth and joins her sister Marlena.
