Bronco Women's Tennis Ranked No. 45 in Latest ITA Poll

BOISE, Idaho After a solid 2008 fall season, the Boise State women’s tennis team has earned a No. 45 national team ranking from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in their latest ranking released Jan. 6, 2009.


The Broncos’ Pichittra Thongdach earned the only singles ranking for the Broncos, sitting at No. 104 out of the 125 nationally ranked players. Thongdach teamed with freshman Vivian Silfany as the only ranked doubles team for the Broncos, holding the No. 54 doubles spot out of the 54 nationally ranked doubles teams.


In the Central Region rankings, Thongdach looks to be a strong competitor, sitting at No. 7 in singles play. Freshman Lauren Megale holds the No. 12 spot in the region’s singles rankings while Silfany and senior Bianca Jochimsen rank No. 23 and No. 30 out of the region’s 30-ranked singles players.


All three doubles teams for Boise State fell into the Central Region rankings with Thongdach and Silfany leading the way at No. 4. Megale joins Klaudia Wlodarczyk for the No. 5 ranked team while Laura Baum joins Jochimsen as the No. 11 ranked team out of 15.


The Bronco women begin their season on Fri., Jan. 23 when they host Montana State at 3 p.m. at the Boas Tennis Center. Their season will continue on Sun., Jan. 25 when they host Penn State in a 10 a.m. match-up at the Boas Tennis Center.
