Dokic Splits at Mountain Regional

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Boise State's Anja Dokic split a pair of singles matches on Thursday to lead the Broncos on the second day of the ITA Mountain Region Championships at Salt Lake City, Utah. On the day, Dokic and Lilian Poling were the only remaining Broncos a live at the regional. By days end they had both suffered defeats to move into the back draw.



Dokic opened the day with a straight set victory over Idaho's Maria Tavares 7-6(3), 6-4 to advance to the round of 32. Later in the afternoon the sophomore came up short against Air Force's TJ Fumagali 6-4, 6-3.

Poling won her first match of the tournament on Wednesday to advance into today's round of 64 against UNLV's Izumi Asano. Poling battled hard before falling in a second set tiebreaker as Asano defeated her 6-3, 7-6(5).

The day opened early in the morning when Dokic and Poling played their first doubles match of the tournament in the round of 32 against Denver's Arisha Ladhani and Gracia Mboko. Unfortunately, Boise State's tandem lost 8-5 to the duo from Denver.
