Oct. 2, 2015

PULLMAN, Wash. - Arianna Paules Aldrey and Bobbi Oshiro won three doubles matches Friday, to lead the way for Boise State on the first day of the WSU Invitational hosted by Washington State. Nancy Menjivar won her first-round singles match in the Cougar Flight.

Paules Aldrey and Oshiro rolled through their first two matches, beating a tandem from Portland 6-1, and a duo from Oregon 6-2. In their third match, the Bronco team held off WSU's Donika Bashota and Victoria Matejevic, 7-6. Bashota won the singles and doubles titles at the BYU Invitational in September, a tournament the Broncos also played.

Menjivar breezed to a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Sarah Hellstern of Portland. She will face Aneta Miksovska of WSU in the semifinals of the Cougar Flight. Menjivar is looking to continue a hot start to the fall season, which includes a singles title at the Jack Taylor Classic and an appearance in the consolation final at the BYU Invitational.

Paules Aldrey and Oshiro each dropped their singles match Friday. Paules Aldrey fell 7-5, 6-2 against WSU's Barbora Michalkova in Gray Flight. Oshiro lost in three sets against WSU's Maria Biryukova, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, in the Crimson Flight.

Tournament action continues Saturday and Sunday.
