BOISE, Idaho (9/27-2015) - Boise State women’s tennis swept all three titles at the Jack Taylor Classic on Sunday in Boise. Bobbi Oshiro and Nancy Menjivar won their respective singles flights, while the doubles title was won by the Broncos’ Arianna Paules Aldrey and Megan LaLone. On the weekend Boise State went a combined 26-9 in singles and doubles, six of those losses came at the hands of their own teammates.

Bobbi Oshiro won her first tournament title taking the Blue Flight in a tightly contested affair against teammate Paules Aldrey in three sets. Oshiro and Paules Aldrey battled back and forth before the senior won in a third-set tiebreaker 6-1, 1-6, 7-6 (2). Oshiro finished the home tournament undefeated in singles at 4-0, while Paules Aldrey went 3-1.

“Honestly we played some really high level tennis today all the way around,” coach Beck Roghaar said. “The Blue Flight singles title where we played each other was an intense battle to the end being decided by a third-set tiebreaker. That was just two players who did not want to lose, who were just going at each other with everything they had.”

In the Orange Flight, Boise State sophomore Nancy Menjivar faced Montana’s Lidia Dukic. Like the other flight this one went to three sets as well. Menjivar won the first set only to see Dukic take the second to force a third. In the final frame the Bronco trailed 5-4 and faced defeat when she regrouped and battled back tying the set at 5-5, then completed the rally with three straight victories to win the championship 7-5, 1-6, 7-5.

“In the Orange Flight final to see Nancy (Menjivar) setup in a big situation and be brave and play the type of tennis we’re asking her to play in that moment in a match is a huge step I think for her and for us overall,” comment Roghaar. “I am really proud of the way all of the girls competed this weekend at home.”

The top three doubles finishes where all Broncos including the championship contest that saw Paules Aldrey and LaLone defeat teammates Teal Vosburgh and Milena Toseva 6-3. In the third-place match Boise State’s duo of Oshiro and Naomi de Hart downed Weber State’s Agata Bachanek and Kristi Elmer in a tiebreaker 7-6 (2).
