BOISE, Idaho (9/26/2015) - Boise State will be featured in all three championship matches Sunday at the Jack Taylor Classic after going a combined 8-6 in singles and doubles on Saturday. Bobbi Oshiro, Arianna Paules Aldrey and Nancy Menjivar all won their singles matches Saturday to advance to the title round Sunday for the Blue and Orange flights. In doubles the Broncos had two pairs Megan LaLone/Paules Aldrey and Teal Vosburgh/Milena Toseva go 2-0 to reach tomorrow’s championship against each other.

“Today was a really good day for us, as I said yesterday it’s always interesting matching up against your own teammates,” said coach Beck Roghaar. “In the tournament setting your get that on occasion and it’s harder to go at it 100 percent and then hug each other afterwards and congratulate the winners. I was really proud of the maturity our girls showed today in doing that, it really isn’t an easy thing to do. It showed the strength and character of our team to support and love each other like that.”

Sunday’s action will begin at 9 a.m. at the Appleton Tennis Center on the Boise State campus. First up will be the doubles competition featuring the title match between the two Bronco teams, as well as the third place contest which will showcase Boise State’s Bobbi Oshiro and Naomi de Hart against Weber State’s Agata Bachanek and Kristi Elmer.

Singles will begin around 11 a.m. with Oshiro playing teammate Paules Aldrey for the Blue Flight title, while Menjivar will compete for the Orange Flight championship against Montana’s Lidia Dukic.

“It is going to be really fun to see two of our players in the finals of the Jack Taylor Classic who have never been there before. It is the first time for our senior Bobbi Oshiro, as well as for sophomore Arianna Paules Aldrey. It is going to be an absolute battle and it is great to see two Broncos in the finals of top flight at the Jack Taylor Classic. Likewise, I know that Nancy Menjivar will play hard in the Orange Flight title match as well. It is going to be a good day for the Broncos.”

Saturday was doubles heavy with two rounds in the morning. All four of Boise State’s teams competed in the quarterfinals with three advancing to the semifinals. LaLone and Paules Aldrey defeated Weber State’s Devi Hasan and Sarah Parker 6-1in the quarterfinals, then followed with a 6-3 victory over Boise State teammates Oshiro and de Hart. Oshiro and de hart defeated Montana’s Cam Kincaid and Hannah Sulz in the quarters.

In the other bracket, the Broncos duo of Vosburgh and Toseva shutout Eastern Washington’s tandem of Dani Young and Katrina Domingo 6-0. They then downed Weber State’s Bachanek and Elmer 6-1 to reach the championship match.

The fourth Boise State pair of Menjivar and freshman Kirsty Venter lost in the quarterfinals to Weber State’s Bachanek and Elmer.
