WEST POINT, N.Y. - Boise State women's tennis student-athletes combined to go 6-1 in singles and doubles competitions Friday, on the first day of the West Point Invitational hosted by Army.

All five Broncos advanced to the quarterfinals of their respective doubles draw. Hanna Kantenwein and Milena Toseva, the No. 1 seed in the top flight, came off a bye to pick up a 6-2 win in the second round. Lilian Poling and Nancy Menjivar, the No. 2 seed in the top flight, came off their first-round bye and fought off a tiebreaker for a 7-6 (7-5) win to advance.

Also in doubles play, Kirsty Venter teamed with Quinnipiac's Amy Zammarieh in the second doubles flight. Venter and Zammarieh rolled to victories of 6-2 and 6-1 in the first two rounds.

In singles, Menjivar and Toseva advanced with decisive straight-set wins. Menjivar, the No. 7 seed in the top singles draw, won 6-0, 6-3. Toseva won 6-1, 6-1 and will face the No. 3 seed in the second round of the B singles draw.

Kantenwein and Poling had byes in their singles draws. Kantenwein is the top seed in the A flight and Poling the top seed in the B draw.
