Sept. 19, 2015

PROVO, Utah - Teal Vosburgh dropped a three-set decision in the championship match of the BYU Invitational Saturday, in Provo, Utah. It was the first competition of the season for Boise State.

Vosburgh suffered her first loss of the weekend, falling to Washington State’s Donika Bashota. Vosburgh beat two members of the WSU team on her way to the championship match. The Cougars were playing their second tournament of the fall.

Nancy Menjivar advanced to the final of the consolation draw where she lost to Lize Leenknecht of WSU. Menjivar beat BYU’s Brittney Eraso in a semifinal match Saturday, to move on to the final. Bobbi Oshiro also fell to Leenknecht in the semifinals of the back draw.

“We saw some really good things this weekend,” said head coach Beck Roghaar. “In a lot of areas we’re starting this season ahead of where we finished last year. I’m excited about that and what it means for how good we can be when we hit our peak in the spring.”

The Broncos continue their schedule next weekend with the only home tournament of the fall. Boise State hosts the Jack Taylor Classic Sept. 25-27, at the Appleton Tennis Center.
