FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Boise State women’s tennis took a 4-2 decision Sunday, at Colorado State to complete a weekend road sweep. The Broncos (11-9) fell behind after doubles, but stormed back to win four singles matches and seal the victory.

“We showed a lot of grit and determination to get through the match today,” said head coach Beck Roghaar. “We dropped the doubles point and looked a little flat out there early. We got some good things going for ourselves in singles and pulled it out with some tough play in the end, but to be our best we can’t make a habit of dropping that doubles point.”

For the second time in as many matches, Arianna Paules Aldrey and Nancy Menjivar took the court at the fifth and sixth singles positions with the team match still in the balance, this time tied 2-2.

Menjivar quickly picked up a win at the No. 6 spot 6-0, 6-3, to put the Broncos in front. Paules Aldrey came out on top in a tight first set, 7-5, before cruising to a 6-1 win in the second set to clinch the match for Boise State.

“This is a great win for us,” Roghaar said. “It’s our third conference match in a row coming out on top and we’re feeling really good about where we are as a team and where we think we can continue to go from here.

Hanna Kantenwein picked up a win of her own at the top singles position. Kantenwein earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory as the first singles match off the court, tying the team score. Teal Vosburgh quickly added a straight-sets victory at No. 3 singles to put the Broncos ahead.

The lead was short lived once Colorado State claimed a win on court two and moved the match back to a dead heat. That was when Paules Aldrey and Menjivar took center stage and came through once again.

“Winning on the road in our conference is never easy so going 2-0 this weekend is a great accomplishment in and of itself,” said Roghaar. “To beat two quality teams has us feeling even better. We are really looking forward to getting back home for senior day next weekend and hope everyone will come out to join us.”

The Broncos will host Utah State Saturday, at 2 p.m. MT at the Appleton Tennis Center in the regular-season finale.
