USAFA, Colo. - Boise State's women's tennis team swept the Air Force Academy 7-0 Sunday afternoon to notch the Mountain West Conference victory on the road in Colorado. The Broncos swept all six singles matches including the team victory clincher by Marlena Pietzuch on court one. Boise State's win completes a three match sweep over the weekend in league play as the Broncos improved to 13-7 overall and 4-2 in conference.

"This was a great weekend of tennis for our team. We competed so well up and down the line in all three matches," said head coach Beck Roghaar. "Today's match was tough as Air Force fights for everything and has a great team. We came into today's match needing to bring a lot of energy of our own which can be tough after two matches the previous two days. Our team showed their determination and how much they care about each other out there today. The MWC is full of tough teams, and I'm so proud of our players' efforts this weekend."

The match opened with the Broncos winning the doubles point with two victories on courts two and three. Air Force had the upper hand early when the Falcons' Hannah Daka and Melissa Cecil defeated Boise State's Pietzuch sisters, Manuela and Marlena, 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. However, the Broncos swung the momentum their way when Morgan Basil and Sandy Vo won 8-6 on court two, followed by Megan LaLone and Bobbi Oshiro's 8-6 win on court three to claim the team point for the blue and orange.

Sandy Vo started things off for the Broncos in singles with the first of Boise State's six straight set victories. She was the first off the court downing the Falcons' Tiffany Tran 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 2 position. Not long afterward, the Broncos' lead was extended to 3-0 when Basil defeated Daka 6-4, 6-3 on court three.

The team match clinching victory came on court one where Marlena Pietzuch handed Air Force's Christine Molina a 6-3, 6-4 defeat to make the team score 4-0 in favor of the blue and orange.

Boise State closed the match out by sweeping the remaining three singles matches. First off was LaLone who won a tough match on court four where she defeated Air Force's Natasha Rizvi 7-5, 7-6 (5). Manuela Pietzuch was the next to finish recording a 6-0, 6-2 win on court six, followed by Sammie Watson's 7-6 (5), 6-2 win at No. 5.

Boise State will closeout the regular season next weekend when they host Fresno State and Nevada at the Appleton Tennis Center, followed by the Mountain West Conference championship tournament April 25-28.
