April 1, 2018

FT. COLLINS, Colo. – The Broncos earned their third-straight victory, second-straight road win on Sunday afternoon at Colorado State, 4-2.

“Today was an incredible test and it was really great to see our squad answer the call. It’s incredibly tough to consistently win on the road in our division and we really had our backs against the wall today, said head coach Beck Roghaar. “The way we handled the situation and adversity that presented itself today couldn’t have been better on each and every court.”

The Broncos (11-7, 3-0 MW) dropped their first doubles point in eight matches to the Rams (9-9, 0-3 MW), but were able to come through with four singles victories to take the match.

Down 1-0 entering singles, the Rams went up 2-0 on the Broncos with a win at No. 3 singles. Anja Dokic came through with a victory at No. 1 singles to pull within one, 2-1. Then Wiktoria Nosek defeated Emily Kolbow 7-5, 6-3 at No. 4 singles to tie the match up, 2-2 Wilhelmina Palmer then came through with a victory at No. 2 singles to give the Broncos their first lead of the day, 3-2. Then for the second-straight match, Nancy Menjivar came through with the match-clinching victory at No. 6 singles, defeating Emma Corwin, 6-2, 7-6 (9-7).

On the play of Menjivar, Roghaar said, “Nancy clinching today’s singles match again was the perfect ending to an incredible weekend for her going 4-0. It was awesome to see her being the finisher in two big matches for us.”

The Broncos return home for three matches before hosting Mountain West women’s tennis championships. The Broncos host New Mexico on Friday, April 13 at 5 p.m. MT.
