EAGLE, Idaho - Boise State women's tennis cruised to a 7-0 sweep Sunday, against Idaho State at the Eagle Tennis Club. The Broncos are 5-1 on the season, their best start since 2013.

"It's a good start and with such a young group it's all the more impressive," said head coach Beck Roghaar. "These last few matches we've played, we've found a way to win and create that magic for ourselves. All the best teams I've been a part of have that grit and find ways to win."

The Broncos started the match with wins at the top two doubles positions to take the point, and carried the momentum into singles.

Hanna Kantenwein was the first Bronco off the courts winning 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. She was followed shortly by freshmen Anja Dokic (No. 3) and Jovana Kuljanin (No. 5) claiming their own straight-set wins to clinch the team victory.

Sophomore Kirsty Venter stayed perfect on the season, with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles. Venter is now 4-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles.

"Kirsty was phenomenal today," Roghaar said. "She brought a lot of energy and really competed down at No. 6. I couldn't be more proud or excited of what she's doing so far this year."

Lilian Poling earned the Bronco Bandana Sunday, after completing yet another comeback at No. 2 singles. Poling dropped her first set 6-2, but rallied to win the second set 6-3 and ran away with a 6-1 win in the third.

Nancy Menjivar rounded out the 7-0 sweep with a three-set win of her own at No. 4 singles.

The match was played as part of a simultaneous doubleheader with the Boise State men's team. All 12 courts at the Eagle Tennis Club were in use at once during singles in the first such doubleheader in school history.

"This club is top notch," said Roghaar. "I can't say enough things about what a great venue it is to play tennis. We're thankful for being able to come out here and play in front of a great crowd. It's a big deal for us to get our young team in front of so many of the program's supporters and for us to show those people what we're all about. It was fun to play with the men on the other side and have that energy and excitement.

Boise State will face its first road test of the spring Saturday, at BYU. The Cougars are 1-2 on the year but have won the last five matches against the Broncos.
