GREELEY, Colo. - Boise State swept Northern Colorado 7-0 on Sunday to finish the opening weekend of the season with a 2-0 record on the road. Senior Anissa Bryant-Swift clinched the match for Boise State over Northern Colorado with a straight set victory on court four.

“This weekend was an outstanding start to the season for our us,” said head coach Beck Rohgaar. “The team did a really nice job coming out to face another tough situation and opponent today after such an exciting and big match last night. We’re definitely going to have to draw upon the experience we gained here this weekend to accomplish some of the goals we’ve set out to tackle this year, so it’s great to get some of that experience so early in our season and come home with a couple of wins.”

The Broncos opened the day with quick doubles victories on courts one and two to take the early match lead with the doubles point. Sandy Vo and Bryant-Swift won the first match 6-3 over UNC’s Stephanie Caitlin and Beth Coton at No. 1 doubles, followed by Morgan Basil and Megan LaLone’s 6-3 victory on court two over Adriana Nieto and Hilary Walters-West. With the doubles point decided the No. 3 doubles match was stopped with Boise State’s Milena Toseva and Bobbi Oshiro up 4-2.

Sandy Vo opened with the first win in singles defeating the Bears’ Adriana Nieto on court one by scores of 6-3, 7-5. The Broncos extended their lead to 3-0 when Toseva won in straight sets 6-3, 7-5 over Chrissie Hoolahan at No. 3 singles. Bryant-Swift then recorded the match clincher 6-3, 6-4 over Northern Colorado’s Laura Wehner on court four to give the Broncos a decisive 4-0 advantage.

The final three singles matches were all won by Boise State beginning with Teal Vosburgh at No. 2 singles 6-2, 5-7, 10-8. Morgan Basil won on court five 6-3, 6-2, while Megan LaLone came away with a 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 win at the sixth position.

In exhibition contests Boise State’s Bobbi Oshiro won a 6-0, 6-2 singles match over UNC’s Courtney Schulte. Sammie Watson downed Taylor Schumacher 8-0 in a pro-set match. While in doubles the team of Sammie Watson and Vosburgh defeated the Bear’s Bara and Schulte 6-0.
