Diving Reaches New Heights at BYU

The Boise State diving traveled to Provo, Utah over the weekend to take on BYU. The divers competed in the 3-meter and 1-meter events over the two-day meet with Erin Lionberger leading the way for the Broncos.

Lionberger earned a new career-high in the 3-meter competition on Saturday with a score of 268.04. It was 50 points higher than her previous career-high and gave her the victory in the event. Teammate Brittney Jones followed in third at 263.69 and Tana Loan followed in fourth with a score of 190.34, both earning new career-highs in the event.

In the 1-meter event on Saturday, all three divers earned new career-highs. Jones led the charge with a score of 257.01, placing her in fourth. She was followed by Lionberger in fifth, recording a score of 240.47. Loan finished in seventh with a new career-high score of 207.74.

The Broncos also competed in both events on Friday, starting with the 3-meter. Jones earned the Broncos high score in the event with a third-place finish and a score of 257.32. Lionberger recorded a score of 243.03 and Loan brought in a 175, finishing in fifth and eighth respectively.

It was Lionberger who led the Broncos in the 1-meter on Friday as she also finished in third-place with a score of 232.4. Jones and Loan followed in sixth and seventh with respective scores of 213.57 and 209.7.

The diving team will next compete at the Hawaii Invitational on Jan 8, 2009 in Honolulu.
