Cortney posted a 226.35 in the preliminary round to place 26th. Redshirt junior Amanda Burnett came in 32nd with a score of 215.85. Also eclipsing the 200-point mark was sophomore Lexi Pfeiffer, whose 200.4 points marks a career high on the three-meter board. Senior Tana Loan rounded out the Boise State quartet with a 188.35 as all of the Broncos finished in the top 50.
"The girls showed a lot of improvement today," said head diving coach David Legler. "It was a long meet and they were competing some dives for the first time, so that makes it difficult to stay in rhythm. But they stayed focused and I'm proud of how they did."
In addition to the invitational, the Bronco divers are in head-to-head competition with Northern Arizona. The Lumberjacks placed three divers ahead of Cortney. The scores from Friday, as well as the one-meter competition, Saturday, will be factored into the team scores achieved at the swimming dual meet between Boise State and NAU Saturday, in Flagstaff, Ariz.
Aubrey Bush of New Mexico won the event with a score of 313.05 in the finals.
The Wildcat Diving Invitational continues Saturday with the one-meter competition, and Sunday with the platform event.
The Bronco swimmers are in action Saturday in a conference dual meet against NAU.
