BOISE, IdahoBoise State women’s swimming and diving opened the next chapter of its history Thursday, as head coach Kristin Hill announced the signing of nine incoming freshman to National Letters of Intent. The class is comprised of seven swimmers and two divers.

"As a class this is a fun, diverse and talented group of young women,” Hill said. “We were specifically looking for a 400 individual medley swimmer and sprinters in the butterfly and freestyle disciplines. We also sought swimmers who want to keep getting faster, are excited to be Broncos and understand what that responsibility means.”

On the swimming side, the Broncos will welcome Brittany Ayoama (Stockton, Calif.), Jenny Barcellona (Danville, Calif.), Felicity Cann (Tacoma, Wash.), Whitney Jorgensen (Roseville, Calif.), Katelyn Martin (Fullerton, Calif.), Mandie Siehs (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) and Emily Tanasse (Kent, Wash.).

All seven new Broncos have experienced high levels of success at the high school state championship level and come from strong club programs. Cann, Siehs and Tanasse wrapped up their prep careers last week while the California natives will compete for their high schools in the spring.

First-year diving coach Allison Brennan inked Karli Kriewall (Albert Lea, Minn.) and Jordan Mathens (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) to her first recruiting class.

"I am excited for Karli and Jordan to join the great group of girls on the Boise State diving team next year,” Brennan said. “They both will be a great addition to the diving team as well as big contributors to the swimming and diving program."

Kriewall will close her high school career at the state finals Saturday, Nov. 17, while Marthens will wait until spring to try and repeat her CIF Southern Section finals appearance.

The group joins a Boise State program in the midst of its seventh season. Hill has been at the helm all seven years, guiding the Broncos to three-straight conference championships. They will look to defend their Mountain West crown next February, in San Antonio. The incoming Broncos will help replace the five members of the departing 2013 senior class.
