BOISE, Idaho-Boise State swimming and diving Head Coach Kristin Hill announced Thursday, Karli Kriewall of Albert Lea, Minn., signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Broncos. Kriewall is currently a senior diver at Albert Lea High School.

"I am very excited to get the chance to work with Karli next year," said Boise State diving coach Allison Brennan. "She is hardworking and driven, two qualities that will fit well with the Broncos. Her great attitude and hard work will ensure her a successful first year here and I know she will contribute greatly to the Boise State swim and dive team."

Kriewall is coached by Jill Johnson and Jon Schmitz at Albert Lea, where she has qualified for the state finals each of the past three seasons. Kriewall took third at the state meet as a junior in 2011, following a fifth-place performance in 2010. She will vie for her third all-state honor in the finals Saturday, Nov. 17, at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. At the Big Nine Conference Meet Kriewall placed in the top three in her last three seasons, including runner-up finishes as a sophomore and a junior.

The school record holder in six and 11 dives at Albert Lea, Kriewall also set the six-dive pool record at Winona High School last season.

Outside of her high school team Kriewall competes for coach Brandon Blaisdell at Minnesota Diving Academy, the same club program current Bronco Erin Kohlbeck came from.

Also a four-time letterwinner in track and field, Kriewall comes from an athletic family. Her father, Todd, wrestled at the University of Iowa and her brother, Kyle, played football at the University of St. Thomas.

"I knew right away Boise State was the school for me," said Kriewall. "I fell in love with the school, atmosphere, coaching staff and the girls on the team. I canceled all my other visits and verbally committed to Boise State right after I was there."
