BOISE, Idaho- Boise State women's swimming and diving Head Coach Kristin Hill announced, Tuesday, Emri Moore of Spokane, Wash., signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Broncos. Moore, currently a senior at Mead High School, swims butterfly and freestyle events.

"I have been watching Emri compete over the last few years, as she swims with Todd Marsh at Spokane Area Swim Team," Hill said. "Emri is strong with such a range in her freesyle events, as well as butterfly. She is a hard worker, she's happy and fun loving, and we're excited to have someone with her strengths joining us here in Boise."

Moore competes for Spokane Area Swimming (SAS) where she is coached by Todd Marsh. In 2010 she reached the finals at short-course junior nationals in the 500-yard freestyle. Moore also swam in the finals at YMCA Nationals in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly, each of the past three years. She twice qualified for short-course nationals. Moore holds 17 Inland Empire LSC records across all age groups and courses.

Four of Moore's best times would rank in the all-time top 10 at Boise State, including the second-fastest times in the 500-, 1000- and 1650-yard freestyle events.

Moore is also a standout student at Mead where she was the junior class representative. Moore holds numerous other leadership positions, including team captain of SAS and the athlete representative on the Board of Review for Inland Empire Swimming.

Outside of the pool and classroom, Moore volunteers with Special Olympics and events in Spokane, such as Bloomsday and Hoopfest. She also played club volleyball for five years.

"I chose Boise State for several reasons," Moore said. "The obvious dedication Kristin and Justin put forth to the success of the team as a whole; the support from the Boise community and that of the University; but the most influential in my decision was the camaraderie of the girls on the team.  I liked how they supported each other and encouraged the success of one another in and out of the pool.  I just knew in my heart this was the place for me from the time I arrived."
