BOISE, Idaho- Boise State swimming and diving Head Coach Kristin Hill announced, Tuesday, Blake Balogh of Lincoln, Neb., signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Broncos. Balogh, currently a senior at Lincoln Southeast High School, specializes in butterfly and freestyle events.

"We all loved Blake right away, and it's fun to think that we will have two Balogh sisters here on the team next year," Hill said. "Blake had an outstanding summer, and we know her short course times will be faster than they currently are as she progresses through this season. She is a top student and is such a well-rounded individual. It will be great to work with her over the next four years."

Balogh competes for Lincoln Select Swimming, where she is coached by her parents Louie and Norma Balogh. Blake owns eight short-course and nine long-course team records in the 15-18 age group. She also holds the Midwestern LSC record in the 200-meter medley relay, swimming the anchor leg.

A three-time Midwestern Swimmer of the Year, Balogh most recently earned the award for the 2011 long-course season in the 17-18 age group. She also took home swimmer of the year honors twice in the 15-16 age group (2010-11 short course; 2010 long course).

Balogh is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and has maintained a grade-point average in the top three percent every semester at Lincoln Southeast.

Balogh is the younger sister of current Bronco Brooke Balogh. They also have an older sister, Bobbi, who swims for Nebraska.

Blake is heavily involved outside of the classroom and pool. She is the captain of Lincoln Southeast's small group choir and is the leader of Lincoln Select's Bible study. Balogh also devotes time to the Student Advocates for World Change Club and Prayer Club at her high school.

"I chose Boise State for many reasons," Balogh said. "I loved it the first moment I saw it. The coaches and team are amazing. And not just because I loved them as people, but I loved everyone's desire to be the best they can be and to move forward. I also loved the school spirit as a whole, and the beautiful campus; pretty much everything!"
