Armstrong High School
Aquajets Swim Team
BOISE, Idaho- Boise State swimming and diving Head Coach Kristin Hill announced, Friday, Emily Blasko of Plymouth, Minn., signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Broncos. Blasko, currently a senior at Armstrong High School, swims the freestyle events.
At Armstrong, Blasko has earned All-America recognition, as well as being named to the all-state team twice, and all-conference three times. Blasko has also been named MVP and section swimmer of the year. She is the school and section record holder in the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle, and last season was named team captain.
Blasko also competes as a member of the Aquajets Swim Team out of Eden Prairie, Minn., under Aquajets head coach Kate Lundsten, Blasko is a two-time qualifier for both the NCSA Junior Nationals, and Speedo Junior Nationals.
"Emily swims for an excellent club team with Kate Lundsten at Aquajets," said Hill. "So she has trained with swimmers at a high level which will help her transition well into our training here"
She owns two personal-best times that would be fast enough to land on Boise State all-time top-10 lists, including a would-be school record in the 1000-yard freestyle.
Blasko was a 2009-10 Scholastic All-American, and has earned academic all-conference recognition. She spends her time away from the pool as a member of the student activities board, environmental society and link crew and Armstrong.
"I fell in love with the campus set up," Blasko said. "I love the fact that it's on a river and there are four seasons a year. I really clicked well with the coaches and the swim team on my recruiting trip. I felt that if I went there and ever had a problem, I could truly talk to any girl on the team and trust that they will have my best interest in mind. I also love that the team has worked so hard to get where they are at, but that they also know how to have fun."
