Aoyama Named MW Swimmer Of The Week
Nov. 4, 2014

BOISE, Idaho - Sophomore Brittany Aoyama of the No. 23 Boise State swimming and diving team was named Mountain West Swimmer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.

It is the fourth time in her career that Aoyama has received the Mountain West's weekly honor. She was thrice recognized in her debut campaign as year ago. The honor also marks the second won by Boise State this season following Sam Wicks' selection on Oct. 13.

Aoyama won all four events in which she entered last Friday at Oregon State, helping the Broncos to a 178-84 victory. It was the third consecutive dual victory for the Broncos over a Pac-12 opponent and improved Boise State to 3-0 in 2014-15.

Her four victories, in the 100 fly, 100 free, and as part of the 200 medley and 400 free relay teams, also maintained her perfect record this season, as the Stockton native is 12-for-12 in 2014.

Aoyama on Friday also became the first Bronco swimmer this year to post an NCAA B standard, clocking a 54.06 in the 100 fly to beat the standard by 0.43 of a second. That performance also stands as the 16th-best in the country through Nov. 1. Her 100 free time of 50.05 on Friday also ranks 19th in the NCAA, and she is also among the NCAA's top 25 as part of three Boise State relay teams: the 200 free relay (19th), 400 free relay (T-16th) and the 200 medley relay (T-24th).

No. 23 Boise State returns to action in two weeks, traveling to College Station, Texas for the Texas A&M Invitational from Nov. 20-22. There the Broncos will face off against some of the top teams in the country in host Texas A&M, Arizona State, LSU, SMU, Stanford and TCU.
