COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Boise State women's swimming and diving continued its strong start in the Mountain West as senior Amber Boucher earned MW Swimmer of the Week, for the week of Oct. 9-16, the conference announced Wednesday.
It is Boucher's seventh-career weekly honor and her first from the Mountain West. The Broncos have garnered the first two swimmer of the week awards in the conference this season after senior Stephanie North took home the honors last week.
Boucher led the way for Boise State as she won three individual events and four relays during the Broncos' two-day invitational victory Oct. 14 and 15, against New Mexico and Seattle. Boucher's winning time in the 100-yard freestyle (51.44) ranks first in the conference and 16th in the country. The two-time WAC Swimmer of the Year added wins in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard freestyle to help cushion the Broncos' lead. Boucher also touched second in the 50-yard freestyle as Boise State finished 1-2-3 in the event.
The senior swam on all four of the Broncos' winning relay teams, including the butterfly leg on the 400-yard medley relay team which set a pool record. Boise State's 3:48.07 is the best in the Mountain West and fifth-fastest in the country this season.
New Mexico senior Ashlee Erickson was named MW Diver of the Week for the second-straight week.
Boise State will next be in action Oct. 28 and 29, at the Rice Invitational in Houston. The Broncos will face Arkansas, Houston, Nebraska and the host Owls at the meet.
