BOISE, Idaho The Boise State University women’s swimming and diving team held an intra-squad meet today (Tuesday, Oct. 17) at the West YMCA as the Broncos continue preparing for its inaugural season.
First year head coach Kristin Hill split the team up into two teams with the Orange squad defeating the Blue team 137-129.
Nikki DeWane led the Orange team as the senior from Boise (Boise HS) won the 50-meter freestyle, 50 and 100-meter breast stroke. Siobhan Gilmartin, a junior from Missoula, Mont. (Sentinel HS) recorded the Orange’s team other individual victory in winning the 50-meter back stroke.
Leading the Blue team were LiAnne Choitz and Kendrea MacLean with each winning three events. Choitz, a junior from Buckeye, Ariz. (Buckeye Union HS) won the 500-meter freestyle, 200-individual medley and 100-meter butterfly, while MacLean, a freshman from Ludingten, Mich. (Ludingten HS) won the 100 and 200-meter freestyle and 100-meter back stroke.
Brooke Benson, a freshman from Gillette, Wyo. (Campbell County HS), won the diving event for the Blue team.
The Broncos participate in the first swimming and diving meet in Boise State history on Oct. 27 (Friday) at a meet in Greeley, Colo., against the University of Northern Colorado and San Diego State University.
