BOISE, Idaho- Boise State women's swimming and diving set another pool record and took first place in all eight swimming events to jump out to a big lead on the first day of its invitational meet with New Mexico and Seattle, Friday, at the Boise-West Family YMCA. The Broncos are in first place with 426 points, followed by New Mexico's 325 and Seattle's 168 points.

The Broncos' 400-yard medley relay started the meet with a pool record. Jessica Bottelberghe, Heather Harper, Amber Boucher and Stephanie North teamed up to win the event in 3:48.07, breaking the previous mark by more than three seconds.

Boise State's freshman class continued its early-season success. Bottelberghe, Harper, Emily Blasko and Sydney Johansen claimed individual titles. Bottelberghe's winning time of 2:03.76 in the 200-yard backstroke is a lifetime best and good for second in the Mountain West this season. Harper picked up her second-career win in the 100-yard breaststroke, going faster than she did a week ago against Idaho.

Blasko claimed the second win of her career, this time in the 500-yard freestyle. Johansen cruised to victory in the 200-yard individual medley, clocking a 2:09.77.

Seniors Boucher and North also added individual victories. Boucher swam a season best to win the 100-yard butterfly. North edged out Boucher in the 50-yard freestyle as they both touched with season-best times. Junior Stevie Hughey rounded out a 1-2-3 finish in the 50-yard freestyle.

The Broncos ended the day with a 1-2 finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. North, Hughey, Shanelle Choi and Boucher combines for the victory.
Amanda Burnett and Ciera Cortney finished second and third in one-meter diving, respectively. Burnett's career-best score of 261.83 is eighth all-time at Boise State and narrowly missed qualifying for the NCAA Zone Championships. Cortney set a season best with 258.98, 10th-best all-time.


Boise State combined for seven career bests on the day, and nine additional season bests. Included was North improving her Mountain West-best time in the 50 freestyle.

The three teams finish the two-day meet Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m., at the Boise-West YMCA.
