Coach Hill on the WAC Shoot-Out: "Our meets last weekend against Utah and Washington prepared us well for our season of competition. We are really excited for our first travel meet and look forward to the opportunity to compete against some schools in our conference. New Mexico State and Northern Arizona will be great competitors and we look forward to some outstanding races on Friday night. On Saturday we compete against Northern Colorado and Air Force. We won our dual meet against the Air Force last season so I'm sure they will be ready for the competition this time around. Northern Colorado had no mercy on us during the first year of our program two seasons ago and we are really looking forward to showing them how much we've improved as we get into the third year of our program."

North Named WAC Swimmer of the Week: Boise State freshman Stephanie North has been named the Western Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week for the first week of competition, Sept. 29-Oct. 5.
North, a native of Klamath Falls, Ore. (Henley HS), made an immediate impact in her debut for Boise State as she was on two relay teams that set new school records while recording three records of her own last weekend against Utah and No. 24 Washington. North set schools records in the 50 free (24.06) as well as the 100 free (52.11), and defeated Washington with her 100 free time. She was also a member of the 200 free relay which set a school record with a time of 1:38.49 to finish second to both opponents. The freshman capped off her Bronco debut with yet another school record in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:36.12.
This marks just the second time in Boise State school history that a Bronco has received this award. Junior captain Katelyn Lofland was the first swimmer at Boise State to garner the honor for the week of Nov. 26-Dec. 2 after turning in a then career-best and school-record time of 17:24.70 in the 1,650-yard freestyle event at the Husky Invitational.
Record Breaking Relays: In the first competition of the season, the Broncos faced the University of Utah and the No. 24-ranked University of Washington and set an unbelievable three record-breaking relays. Kicking off the meet was the 200 medley relay (Denise Green, Tara Hahto, Chelsea Lopus, Amber Boucher), which recorded the best time in school history with a 1:48.91 to beat out the Huskies. They then went on to place second against both Washington and Utah in the 200 free relay as they clocked a record-time of 1:38.49 (Boucher, Stephanie North, Sammy Sanchez-O'Dell, Jenny Nowatzke). During Saturday’s competition, the Broncos closed out the meet with a record-breaking time in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:36.12 (Boucher, North, Green, Nowatzke) to place second to both the Huskies and Utes.
