Freestyle Distances Coach Hill's Take:
Despite her prowess in the middle distances, Jennifer Cahill will help the Broncos most in the longer freestyle races. After claiming eight of the top 10 times in school history in the 1,000 as a freshman, Cahill will be challenged by Heaney and senior Rachael Meisner. Cahill will also try to improve on her school record time in the mile, but it will be no easy task with the Broncos' depth in the event.
"Jenn Cahill will lead our distance crew. She was phenomenal last year as a freshman, setting school records nearly every time she swam. She will be closely followed by Rachel Heaney who swims the 1,000 freestyle. Rachael Meisner will be one of our top distance freestylers this year, and this being her senior year, I know she really wants to be on top. It will be fun to coach and watch this distance crew train together. All three of them have the outlook that they're just doing it for the team. Whoever comes out on top will have definitely earned it. Because of our depth in breaststroke this year, also look for junior Emily Irvin in the distance races. She had stood out in the 500 freestyle and we may have her try some of the slightly longer races to see how she can compete."
