BOISE, Idaho-Boise State swimming and diving earned recognition Thursday, for its work in the classroom. The Broncos were named a Spring 2011 Scholar All-America Team by College Swimming Coaches Association of America. Four Boise State student athletes were also honored individually by the CSCAA.
The Broncos racked up a 3.32 cumulative grade point average for the semester. The CSCAA recognizes all collegiate swimming and diving programs achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Rising senior Amber Boucher earned recognition as a 2010-11 Scholar All-American. The CSCAA bestows this honor on student-athletes who carry at least a 3.5 GPA and qualify for the NCAA National Swimming and Diving Championships.
Rising senior Amanda Burnett, rising junior Stevie Hughey and rising sophomore Ciera Cortney were all named 2010-11 Honorable Mention Scholar All-Americans. This award is handed out to swimming and diving student-athletes who maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher and achieve provisional qualifying marks in their respective sports, but do not qualify for the national championships. Boucher was tabbed an honorable mention selection in 2009-10.
