OMAHA, Neb.- Stephanie North closed her U.S. Olympic Team Trials debut with a 29th-place finish in the 50-meter freestyle. North clocked a 25.82 to win her heat and claim the best finish by a Boise State swimmer at the meet.
North was a 16-time conference champion in her four seasons at Boise State and has been the best long-course swimmer in Boise State's young history. Her 29th-place showing in the 50 freestyle comes two days after taking 32nd in the 100-meter freestyle.
Amber Boucher took seventh in her heat and 126th in the 50 freestyle. Boucher touched in 26.73 to finish her stay at the Olympic Trials. She swam the 50- and 100-meter freestyle in addition to the 100-meter butterfly in what was likely the final meet of her competitive career. Boucher was the 2011-12 Mountain West Swimmer of the Year after being named WAC Swimmer of the Year the previous two seasons as she led the Broncos to three-straight conference championships.
