June 29, 2017

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Boise State's Ally Kleinsorgen opened her first Phillips 66 National Championship by swimming a career-best 29.85 in the 50-meter backstroke Friday morning in Indianapolis. Kleinsorgen was the lone Bronco of three competing on Thursday at the national swimming championships.

This was one of the few times Kleinsorgen has competed in the 50-meter backstroke during her career finishing second in her heat on Thursday by recording her first sub-30 second time in the event. Overall, the Succasunna, N.J., native finished in the middle of the pack of 94 competitors at the Indiana University Natatorium.

Kleinsorgen and Emma Chard will return to action Friday morning when they compete in the 100-meter backstroke and 400-meter freestyle, respectively.
