SANTA CLARA, Calif.-Stephanie North and Rachel Heaney scored points for the Boise YMCA Swim Team with top-18 finishes at the Santa Clara International Invitational June 1-3, at the George F. Haines Swim Center in Santa Clara, Calif.

North, who closed her Boise State career in 2011-12 with her second trip to the NCAA Championships, advanced to a scoring heat of the 100-meter freestyle with a 56.29 in prelims. She finished eighth in the 'B' Final (17th overall) with a 56.66. North also returned to swim in the evening sessions in the 50- and 200-meter freestyle events, advancing to the 'C' Final in each. She also time trialed a 100-meter backstroke in 1:05.78, a personal best.

Heaney, a rising junior, scored a 14th-place finish in the 200-meter butterfly and swam in the 'C' Final of the 400-meter individual medley. She clocked a 2:17.91 to take fifth in the 'B' Final of the butterfly race to secure the highest finish by a Bronco at the meet. Heaney took 26th in the 400 IM after qualifying in 5:03.96.

The duo was among seven past, present and future Boise State swimmers to compete at the meet. Former Bronco Amber Boucher, rising senior Stevie Hughey, rising sophomores Heather Harper and Sydney Johansen and incoming freshman Devin Madsen also swam at the long-course meet.

Boucher competed in the 'C' Final of four events at the meet, finishing in the top 25 of each the 50-, 100- and 200-meter freestyle and 100-meter butterfly races. Boucher placed 21st in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.35 after a 1:02.00 in prelims. She took 23rd in the 100 freestyle after using a personal-best of 56.81 to qualify. Boucher took 24th in the 50 and 200 freestyle. She also swam the 100 backstroke, clocking a personal-best 1:07.08.

Harper advanced to the 'C' Final of the 100-meter breaststroke, where she finished seventh for a 25th-place finish overall. Her finals time of 1:14.37 was just off her qualifying mark of 1:14.10. She also swam the 100 butterfly, 200-meter individual medley and 200-meter breaststroke.

Hughey set personal bests in the 100 butterfly (1:03.79) and 100 breaststroke (1:16.03). She earned her highest finish in the 50 freestyle, placing 35th in prelims. Hughey also swam the 100 freestyle.

Johansen swam four events at the meet, qualifying for the 'C' Final of the 200 IM on the final day, before pulling out of the evening session. She also competed in the 100 and 200 breaststroke races and the 50 freestyle.

Madsen also took part in four events, swimming both backstroke races and the 100 and 200 freestyle. Her top finish came in the 200 backstroke, where she took 40th. Madsen set a personal best in the 100 freestyle, clocking a 59.68.

The Santa Clara International Invitational is a USA Swimming sanctioned meet. Participants represented USA Swimming Club Teams. Boucher, Harper, Heaney, Hughey and North swam under Boise YMCA Swim Team. Johansen competed for her home club team, Arden Hills Swimming. Madsen represented Crow Canyon Country Club.

Boucher, Harper, Heaney and North will be joined by rising junior Chelsea Miller at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials June 25-July 2, in Omaha, Neb.
