May 18, 2018

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State junior Ally Kleinsorgen, a member of the swimming and diving program, has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 7 Women’s At-Large Team as selected by CoSIDA.

The women’s “At-Large” category encompasses the sports of beach volleyball, bowling, rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis and water polo.

This is the first CoSIDA acadamic all-district honor for the swimmer from Succassuna, N.J., who is double majoring in special education and elementary education with an accumulative GPA of 4.0.

Boise State swimming and diving has now had four members earn a total of six academic all-district honors all-time. Kleinsorgen joins three other Bronco honorees Amanda Burnett (2012), Sam Wicks (2015 and 2016) and Brittany Aoyama (2016 and 2017). In addition, to this honor, Kleinsorgen is a three-time Academic All-Mountain West honoree and a three-time Mountain West Scholar Athlete, for maintaining a 3.5 or better accumulative GPA.

Kleinsorgen has been as successful in the pool as she has been in the classroom where she was a seven-time All-Mountain West honoree at the 2018 conference championships. The junior received all-conference accolades in the 50-yard (fourth-place) and the 100-yard (eighth-place) freestyles races and the 100-yard backstroke (fifth-place), as well as being member of Boise State’s four relay championship teams. She was a part of 329 (73 individual points and 256 relay points) of Boise State’s 1,250 team points helping lead the Broncos to back-to-back Mountain West Conference team championships and their sixth league title in the 12 years of the program’s existence.

Overall, Kleinsorgen is a 14-time All-MW honoree in her career, seven in individual races and seven on relays. She was the 2017 MW 100-yard backstroke champion and has been a member of seven Boise State relay teams that won conference titles.

To be eligible for selection to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Team, nominees must own a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30, have completed at least one year at their current institution, and be a starter or significant contributor who has competed in at least half of their team’s competitions.

Kleinsorgen now advances to the national ballot for the Google Cloud Academic Women’s At-Large All-America Team as selected by CoSIDA, which is scheduled to be announced in June.
