AUSTIN, Texas-Boise State opened the final day of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships with fast swims in the preliminary heats of the 100-yard freestyle. Juniors Amber Boucher and Stephanie North each finished in the top 30.
Boucher posted the third-fastest time in school history, 48.79, to finish 18th. She sits as the second alternate for the finals session Saturday night. North tied for 29th with a 49.15, No. 6 all-time at Boise State.Boucher and North combined to rewrite the Bronco record book in the 100 freestyle this season. Entering the year, the top time in school history was North's winning mark from the 2010 WAC Championships. Each swimmer clocked five faster times this season.
